The purpose of this modification is to guarantee more accurate and validated birth records.

As proof of date of birth, applicants must now present one of the following legitimate and approved documents:
Birth certificate from the appropriate authority
SSLC/10th Class Certificate, Passport, and Driver’s License.
In conclusion
The PAN application process has undergone a significant modification as of April 2026. Aadhaar will no longer be used as evidence of date of birth, although it will still be helpful for identification and address verification. To prevent delays or rejection, applicants must prepare ahead of time by organising legitimate DOB documentation and using the new forms. A seamless PAN/TAN application procedure in FY 2025–2026 will be ensured by being informed and adhering to these new regulations.
